Well, the fishing is picking up here at Lake Fork. The jig bite is always one of my favorite ways to catch fish this time of year. From November through February, this is my bait of choice - because it just catches big bass! Best locations are creeks and ditches with depths from 3-12 ft. Bends are good choices also, but nothing beats big wood on or near the drop offs. Some days they want it pulling out of the creek, and other days pulling into the creek, but both have to be very close to big wood (the bigger the better). When the water temps gets up to the 54 range, hold on. Best color working for us is a 3/8 oz Viper XP Jig in a purple passion. (www.viperxplures.com) They love this color!! Today, we had some good quality fish with the 2 biggest bass being a 7-12 and 8-0. If the wind will let you fish your spots, you can get after some very good bass on jigs right now, and it is only going to get better! Chatter baits in chartreuse/white and square bills cranks in shad patterns are picking up a few in 3-8 ft.
