Lake Monticello Report – November 23, 2011 – by Ronnie Kelley
First off I want to apologize for a lack of fishing reports on my part. Our computer is down and it's a PAIN to type on a IPhone.
Right now Monticello is like a half green, half yellow banana....good enough, but it's gonna be a lot better! We are catching fish on medium cranks in sexy shad and shad color poppers early shallow and around the bridges. Out a bit deeper where the pre-spawn girls are hanging a c-rig Hyper Stick in watermelon red has been great. I'm throwing 20lb Invizx on a Duckett 7'6" med/hvy. Flipping a Jig in timber is killer as well. I'm using a 1/2 & 3/4 oz Santone in my absolute BEST color "Bass Candy" with a green pumpkin LFT Flipper, 25lb Seaguar Abrazx, and 7'6" Hvy White Rod!
The pad bite is really good. Dead stick weightless HyperStick....this bait seems to get way more bites than anything else. Use a big rod and heavy Fluoro. I'm using 20lb test. Watermelon red or green pumpkin red has been killer and just SOAK the bait. The fish are cruising and not really interested but will bite. A Santone swim jig has been good too. Im throwing river bream with a green pumpkin Hyper Worm trailer. Long cast and 50lb braid!!! The colder it gets the better this lake will turn on. To experience the best winter lake in East Texas give me a call and lets get rolling!
