Lake Fork Report – 2/21/12 – by Ronnie Kelley
The water is coming up a bit and most of the creeks we fished today were DIRTY!!! We caught a few on 3/4oz Santone Flipping jigs in blk/blue with matching Hyper Freak trailers. I am throwing them on 25lb Invizx just incase ol Sally latches on in the timber. The bites came out of the creek channels from 10-15ft of water. Later in the day it really got warm and with the south wind cleared a few flats out and warmed them up and we caught them good on white chatterbaits with 4.5" Live Magic Shad trailers in a white color. No really big fish, we did have a 6pber I caught but no photo. Here is a pic of my customer who's from Finland and has never bass fished before.

The bite is heating up, water temps are high 50's and we're catching them in creeks channels on bullfrog & bass candy Santone flipping jigs with green pumpkin hyper freaks!!! It's very close to exploding right now!!!

Had a half day afternoon this afternoon. We found the bite to be fairly slow this afternoon as we were only able to boat 5 largemouths and 5 HUGE white bass today. Water temps ranged from 52-53 degrees in the areas we fished.
The highlight of our day was Gus' first jig fish. I have them again tomorrow and we're planning on putting that Santone jig to work.
Our jig fish were in 8 ft of water and we were using a 3/4 oz Peas and Carrots Santone jig with a Magic Craw Swirl LFT Hyper Freak. If you're not using a Hyper Freak on the back of your jig, you need to try it. It will put extra fish in your boat.

Fork was a bit tough today. We did manage a few. A 1/2oz blk/blu Santone Jig with a flipper and a small square bill crank in a brown/orange craw are getting em. Also, try a 3/16 to 1/4oz Piglet Shakey Head jig with a LFT 10" worm with the tail pulled off. Greens and browns are best colors.

Well, the fishing is picking up here at Lake Fork. The jig bite is always one of my favorite ways to catch fish this time of year. From November through February, this is my bait of choice - because it just catches big bass! Best locations are creeks and ditches with depths from 3-12 ft. Bends are good choices also, but nothing beats big wood on or near the drop offs. Some days they want it pulling out of the creek, and other days pulling into the creek, but both have to be very close to big wood (the bigger the better). When the water temps gets up to the 54 range, hold on. Best color working for us is a 3/8 oz Viper XP Jig in a purple passion. (www.viperxplures.com) They love this color!! Today, we had some good quality fish with the 2 biggest bass being a 7-12 and 8-0. If the wind will let you fish your spots, you can get after some very good bass on jigs right now, and it is only going to get better! Chatter baits in chartreuse/white and square bills cranks in shad patterns are picking up a few in 3-8 ft. Lake Fork produces first ShareLunker of the season – 13.51 lbs

Andrew Watson of Highland Village caught the first entry of the 26th Toyota ShareLunker season December 27, 2011, from Lake Fork.
Watson and his father were fishing under the Texas 154 bridge for crappie using live minnows when the 13.51-pound largemouth bass began taking their minnows. “She broke my 8-pound line twice, so we decided to try to catch her,” Watson said.
The third time she took a minnow, Watson was ready. He played her around the boat for several minutes before bringing her to the net.
The fish was held for pickup at The Minnow Bucket, an official Toyota ShareLunker weigh and holding station. The fish measured 25.5 inches long and 21.25 inches in girth. It is now Toyota ShareLunker 524.

Lake Monticello Report – November 30, 2011 – by Marc Mitchell
This little lake has been very good lately and only going to get better. We have had some very good days with some nice bass. Last week had 2 over 6 lbs, 1 at 7 lbs and another 1 at 8 pounds all on topwaters. The water temp in running from 68-81 depending on where you are on the lake. Carolina rigs have been very good with numbers and good slot fish. Anything watermelon red seems to be the ticket. Shaky heads and wacky rigs have been good with the same colors. If you are ready to get out and go catch some fish and even learn some summer tricks or pre-spawn tricks in the winter on a hot water lake. Give me a call we wil have a blast and catch some fish. Lake Monticello Report – November 23, 2011 – by Ronnie Kelley
First off I want to apologize for a lack of fishing reports on my part. Our computer is down and it's a PAIN to type on a IPhone.
Right now Monticello is like a half green, half yellow banana....good enough, but it's gonna be a lot better! We are catching fish on medium cranks in sexy shad and shad color poppers early shallow and around the bridges. Out a bit deeper where the pre-spawn girls are hanging a c-rig Hyper Stick in watermelon red has been great. I'm throwing 20lb Invizx on a Duckett 7'6" med/hvy. Flipping a Jig in timber is killer as well. I'm using a 1/2 & 3/4 oz Santone in my absolute BEST color "Bass Candy" with a green pumpkin LFT Flipper, 25lb Seaguar Abrazx, and 7'6" Hvy White Rod!
The pad bite is really good. Dead stick weightless HyperStick....this bait seems to get way more bites than anything else. Use a big rod and heavy Fluoro. I'm using 20lb test. Watermelon red or green pumpkin red has been killer and just SOAK the bait. The fish are cruising and not really interested but will bite. A Santone swim jig has been good too. Im throwing river bream with a green pumpkin Hyper Worm trailer. Long cast and 50lb braid!!! The colder it gets the better this lake will turn on. To experience the best winter lake in East Texas give me a call and lets get rolling!

Lake Fork's fall patterns have not developed good for me yet. There are a few patterns coming together and jig fishing is one that is working but some days you really have to work for them. When you find them they are on just about every other tree. The bite is sometime real lite and other times they just take off with it. The fish have been on the same type structure and depths have been close to the same on different locations. Best depths have been 2-8 ft on creek channel's and ditches running into the creeks. Now there are days they want the jig on top of the drop and other days they want it coming out of the creek. The one thing that is consistent is big wood. The bigger the tree the better chance there is a fish there. Best baits/colors are Viper XP Jigs in a 3/8 oz purple passion,black/blue tip, you can check them out at www.viperxplures.com The fishing should pick up anytime as more fish bunch up on the creeks. I have had a few deep places starting to show up some fish but with the high winds it has not been easy to try them out. I also have been going over to Monticello now for about a month and catching some nice fish over there. The fish there will be spawning soon if cool weather stays with us.
